Our October 17 meeting of 26 and 16 guests were inspired by the work of The Rotary Foundation and Shelterbox. Thank you Phil Fairweather and Mike Greenslade for your passion and commitment.
This club will continue to invest in both to further develop our club’s connection with other communities around the world. In 2018/19, Gold Coast Rotary invested $29,000 in international programs and projects.
In 2019/20 we have budgeted $47,000 which includes the Vanuatu project we undertaking with the Rotary Clubs of Broadbeach and Surfers Sunrise.
We welcomed Marion Simon as our newest and 59th member and special mention of hubby Chris for traveling all the way from Botswana just to be here for this.
Our meeting on November 7 we will be inducting 2 new members, Terry Aronson & Ivan Knez .
This will take us to 61 members strong. the most active members in the club’s 42 year history, having surpassed the 60 active members at the amalgamation of the two Surfers Paradise clubs to form Gold Coast Rotary in June 2011.
I am hoping that all members, both active and honorary, can join us to celebrate this milestone.
This meeting is our Vocational Excellence Awards on November 7, coordinated by Kathy Hogan.
These awards provide employers with the opportunity through Rotary to recognise and acknowledge the efforts and contributions of an employee who consistently achieves an overall high personal standard and work performance. The recipient is recognised at this Annual Awards Night in front of their employer, fellow team members and family. All 14 nominees receive an impressive Glass Plaque.
